Futility of regions doesn't compare - it's not even close. Just this decade...
Basketball: Lakers 5-2 in the Finals.
Kings - 4 straight years no playoffs and Warriors - 1 very entertaining playoff run in 06 and both teams a big, fat zero for zero in the Finals.
Clippers have had a spot in the top 3 of the NBA draft 4 times since 98. Also had number 1 then 2 in 88 and 89. Kings and Warriors have been nowhere near that lucky in the draft lottery. Clippers curse is a little different.
Baseball: Angels won in it all in 02... beat those Giants - who lost in the LDS the next year. Missed the playoffs since. A's lost 4 LDSs in a row to start the decade. Broke through to the LCS then got swept in 06. Missed playoffs since. Meanwhile the Dodgers have been to the last 2 LCSs in a row, and the Angels have made the playoffs 5 of the following 7 years after winning it all.
Football: San Diego's record since 04: 67-29 70%
Niners and Raiders 58-134 30%
I don't follow hockey - but that does seem to be the only sport/team immune to the curse. San Jose Sharks have been consistently good. Making the playoffs every year except 1 since 97-98. That's Atlanta Braves good!... so maybe they aren't exactly immune to the curse.
In the last 4 years, it has been considered an achievement to get to .500 to NorCal teams in the 3 major sports.
All 3 sports in SoCal have playoff aspirations.
